An end-of-life vehicle will be an intact passenger car or a light commercial van that the registered owner wishes to dispose of as waste.
The disposal of end-of-life vehicles is controlled because they can pose a threat to the environment. This is largely because of the hazardous materials contained in end-of-life vehicles. These include, for example, lead acid batteries, fluids including lubricating oil, coolant, brake fluid, and catalytic convertors, all of which must be disposed of safely in order to prevent pollution.
We de-pollute and recycle the ELV’s in an environmentally friendly manner (battery, oil, petrol, tyres, windscreen washer all removed) that meets all the requirements of the End of Life Vehicles Directive. A Certificate of Destruction (COD) is issued to the final end user and a copy of this form is sent to the Motor Registration Section of The Department of Transport in Shannon to de-register the car.
